Flying Kites

Uncle Jeffy bought the girls some kites so we went to fly them. I think this is the first time Shelby has been to fly a kite and she was a pro! Both girls surprised us and were able to fly their own kites without much help. I didn't bring a kite because I figured I would be helping them the whole time.

Daddy wasn't as lucky as the girls. He couldn't get his kite to fly. Kadence kept yelling, "Keep trying daddy!"

Here is some video of the girls flying their kites:

Resurrection Rolls

I usually don't post about these types of things, but for family home evening tonight we made resurrection rolls and the girls LOVED it. Here is what you need:

Large Marshmallows (Cut in half)
Melted Butter
Cinnamon/Sugar mix
Crescent rolls

You take Jesus (Marshmallow) and anoint his body in the butter and then dip it in the spices. (Cinnamon and sugar mix). You then wrap the body in the cloth. (Crescent rolls) You have to make sure there aren't any holes so that the marshmallow doesn't melt out. After it is wrapped I like to dip the top in butter and then into the sugar mix. You place Jesus into the tomb. (Oven) I had the girls get stuffed animal guards to watch the tomb for 3 days. (Ok, it was only 12 minutes) You take the cloth out of the tomb to find that Jesus is no longer inside, He has been resurrected. Kadence was SO shocked that the marshmallow she put in had disappeared.

Here is some video of Kadence telling you what she learned. And NO I didn't tell her Jesus was "cooking"

Feeding the Ducks

Once the snow melted, we immediately took the girls to feed the ducks. It is one of their favorite things to do. We didn't have a lot of time, so we just went to Weber State. The girls of course enjoyed it as much as they did last year.

Best friends!

Daddy fed a goose and got bit, Kadence STILL tells me about it. I had to put a video of how Shelby feeds ducks. She holds out a piece of bread and says, "Here you go guckies!" She doesn't throw it, she makes daddy throw it. Kadence is a pro at throwing as you can tell in the background.

Valentine

Kadence and her new Valentine book.

Shelby and her Valentine book.

This has got to be the most thoughtful gift I have ever received. David tried to think of what I loved and ended up making me a place to hang random pictures. He had his first modge podge experience putting on the temple letter pictures to spell "LOVE" and then he also had the girls make hearts our of their thumbprints on the edges. It couldn't have been more perfect and I absolutely love it!

Ok,

Shelby's 2nd Birthday

Ok, so these pictures are kind of in a random order so forgive me. Shelby had two birthday parties this year. She had one with the Joy side and one with the Gerry side. It was great to have all the family together. Since Kadence was within weeks of her casting we weren't able to have the whole family since we had to be so strict on being healthy to attend. I put Shelby in the same outfit for both parties so it might seem like one long party.

After the end of one of the parties we were told that Shopko had a guitar for ten bucks. We couldn't pass it up and now Shelby has a guitar so Kadence can finally play with hers she got for her 2nd birthday now.

Big girl and her big guitar

Princess Shelby blowing out her candle

Uncle Curtis bought the girls fishing poles and Kadence is SOOOO excited to go fishing with her daddy.

Blowing out the candles!

Tyler and Kylah are just about the same size yet are 5 months (I think) apart.

Beautiful birthday girl!

Kisses for Mickey!

The set up! I forgot the balloons for this party, oops.

This is Shelby with the tea set uncle Jeff gave her. Funny thing is that uncle Jason also bought her a tea set.........AND mom and dad promptly exchanged the tea set we bought her. At least we all had a good idea because she loves the two we kept.

Shelby with her workbench mom and dad bought her. She loves it!

And to avoid some of the fighting we bough Kadence a basic tool set. Now there are two of the essential tools and they have to share the pieces.
