For part of our Fathers Day week we went camping. It's one of Davids most favorite things and he was so bummed when we were thinking we wouldn't be able to go this year. We of course found a way to make it happen because our whole family loves it. It was tricky, I was terrified but Kadence survived without injury.
We decided our first camping trip this year would need to be super close just in case things didn't work out. That worked out anyways because our favorite campground is 15 minutes from our house. My girls were thrilled because there were caterpillars EVERYWHERE.
While David and Jeff set up tents, I sat and made sure Kadence didn't move and Shelby explored.
Shelby also gathered sticks for the fire and caterpillars and plants for Kadence to play with.
The girls made a habitat for their caterpillars and it entertained them most of the trip. If the caterpillars crawled away David, Jeff, Shelby or I would collect new ones.
The girls still had to get their reading done
Kadence had a caterpillar fall from the tree onto her shoulder so she let it stay while she read.
Dinner was hobo dinners and of course very delicious
We brought our RC car to try to give Kadence something she could do
Jeff brought the stuff to make s'mores cones and they were SO yummy!
Right before we went to sleep we opened a bag of "Randomz" which are a new candy of random shapes of gummy candy. we had to stay up and talk about our treats before we went to sleep.
Caterpillars were seriously EVERYWHERE!
S'mores!!
The girls told some scary stories
It was definitely different this trip because if Kadence moved one of us had to hold her hand. She had to sit in basically the same spot the entire time. I didn't sleep well because I was so worried she would roll off her air mattress and hurt herself. We kept her from falling and kept her entertained at the same time. Success!! We all had a really great time. The girls took some caterpillars home to send off into space in their rockets. Jeff had an unsuspected moth fly out of his car a little more than a week after and he's thinking a caterpillar went home with him. David was able to camp which is the perfect thing for Fathers Day for him.
